What to wear
Formal nights For cruise durations longer than six nights, there
will be at least one formal evening while you are on board. ‘Dress
to impress’ is generally how most guests approach these events,
with men in either a dinner jacket or dark suit and tie, and ladies
often choosing to look fabulous in anything from a cocktail-style
dress to a full-length ball gown. For those guests not wishing to
join the formal evenings, the casual dining experience on all our
ships has a relaxed, smart casual dress code every evening. The
number of formal nights indicated on the individual cruise pages
are a guide only and are subject to change. Final details will be
provided prior to departure.
Smart casual evenings Most evenings during your cruise will be
smart casual, so you can feel totally relaxed through dinner and
beyond. A pair of trousers, chinos or smart (dark) jeans, coupled
with a polo shirt or shirt is perfectly acceptable for men. The
choice of a jacket or tie is equally fine. Ladies often choose from
tailored trouser suits, casual separates or summer dresses.
Daytime casual is perfectly acceptable with trainers, T-shirts,
polo shirts and shorts popular in warmer climes (please note:
these are not allowed in the restaurants for evening dining).
Trousers and a sweater or jacket are recommended for

Proximity of destinations
In each port of call, our goal is to get you as close as we can to
the destination – taking full advantage of our smaller ships. Your
ship may be a short walk or bus ride from the local amenities. In
some cases, a shuttle bus provided by Fred. Olsen or the local
port authority, may be made available (a nominal fee usually
applies). Guests who’ve booked the Suite Dreams package or
Freedom Fares will receive complimentary shuttle bus tickets.
When a port is further away – indicated as “from” on the itinerary,
e.g. “Oporto (from Leixões)” – it may be necessary to book a
transfer, taxi or tour to reach the destination. We always aim to
keep these distances to an absolute minimum. Please note that
tours are bookable prior to your cruise departure, and are subject
