Europe
Combining scenic rivers and historic waterways with
charming resorts, traditional towns and attraction-packed
cities, a European escape with Fred. Olsen delivers countless
pleasures. On many occasions these rewards are only possible
due to the smaller scale of our fleet; they’ll take you closer to
the action. Within an expanded selection of departures to this
region in 2019/20, you’ll find captivating city breaks, five-night
taster cruises, special events, and much more.
These enriching voyages present chances to absorb the cultures and histories of a
collection of fascinating countries. It may be the delightful food and drink that sways
your decision: the chocolates and beers of Belgium; Portugal’s tasty Pastéis de Nata
and flavoursome port; the authentic flavours of Spain, from the sherry of Jerez to the
tapas of Cádiz; and the fine wines of Bordeaux.
Pick your favourite spot on board and savour some of the best scenic cruising
Europe has to offer. Our smaller ships will sail the gorgeous Seine River and the
iconic Kiel Canal, among other glorious waterways. Many of these lead to equally
enticing destinations, such as Bordeaux and Seville – Lonely Planet’s top cities to
visit in 2017 and 2018, respectively. For both, Braemar will dock centrally, right in the
heart of things. All eyes will be on Seville in spring 2019 for the annual Feria de Abril.
This traditional celebration will end with a firework display, with Braemar perfectly
placed for you to see it all.
Across this varied selection of itineraries you’ll find some captivating attractions,
such as the 35,000-year-old cave art of Altamira and the scintillating displays on
show at Keukenhof: this ‘Garden of Europe’ is where some seven million bulbs burst
into springtime colour. Elsewhere, the Portuguese customs and extensive maritime
past are a joy to uncover in Lisbon, while the Gothic architecture of Bremen, the
canals of Amsterdam, the ‘Three Towers’ of Ghent and the medieval fortified
monastery of Mont Saint-Michel show off the essence of each destination.
