Closer | Mediterranean
Taking full advantage of her compact dimensions, Braemar will take you
closer to some of the Mediterranean’s most beautiful and diverse destinations.
Culture-rich cities in Spain and France are on the roster, the highlights of
which will be within reach of your ship. Discover impressive architecture,
world-famous monuments, gorgeous beaches and more. There’s even an
opportunity to catch Provence’s fragrant lavender fields in bloom too.
A unique blend of historic and modern attractions
is yours to uncover in Malaga. The Gibralfaro Castle,
the striking Moorish Alcazaba Fortress and the
Picasso Museum are among your rewards in this
stunning Andalusian city. Nearby, Granada – home
of the magnificent Alhambra Palace – and the
resorts of Marbella and Puerto Banús are within
reach on tours too.
The cosmopolitan Catalan city of Barcelona,
meanwhile, boasts a number of unforgettable
sights and experiences. Gaudi’s iconic Sagrada
Familia, which is still a work in progress, bustling
Las Ramblas and the Gothic Cathedral of Santa
Eulalia, in particular, are not-to-be-missed.
An undoubted highlight of this Mediterranean
exploration is your call into the fabulous French city
of Marseille, where Braemar has special permission to
dock at La Joliette. Markets, boutiques and galleries
await you here, at trendy regenerated warehouses
near the port. Unlike guests on larger ships that have
to dock a distance away from the city, you’ll discover
attractions from the moment you step ashore. The
lively Old Port and historic quarter, overlooked by
Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica, and Cathédrale de
la Major are worth seeking out. Marseille is also your
gateway to the Luberon region of Provence, revered
for its incredible natural beauty. Opt to take a tour
here, passing through quaint villages, and you may
be lucky enough to see, and enjoy the fragrance of,
Provence’s lavender fields in colourful bloom.
Menorca emanates Mediterranean island lifestyle.
Perhaps you’ll wander into the centre of Mahon,
which is packed with chic shops, restaurants, bars
and interesting architecture; or opt to spend your
time enjoying the sunshine on your pick of the
island’s beaches. For something a little more
adventurous, take a tour to Monte Toro and enjoy
the views on offer from Menorca’s highest peak.
Braemar will dock close to the centre of Cartagena,
a fascinating city bursting with Roman heritage.
The amphitheatre, medieval castle and collection of
Modernist buildings provide plenty of sights to take
in during your stay here. Then finally, it’s on to Lisbon
– Portugal’s pretty capital – before returning home.
